About us

The Baxter & Lee workshop and showroom is situated here in the heart of Ambleside and from this base we undertake commissions for both commercial and domestic clients.  At Baxter & Lee we specialise in bespoke furniture, both freestanding and fitted, and our cabinet makers have a wealth of experience gained in the bespoke furniture industry of Europe.

From conception to completion, the clients’ individual needs are taken fully into account to provide you with a design that meets all your needs – inspirational, bespoke designs that will exceed all aspirations and bring your furniture dreams to life.  Kitchens, bedrooms, bathrooms, studies, book cases, dining suites and display cabinets are among our commissions to date and our unique approach allows an organic solution to your design problem.

Locally sourced timbers are used wherever possible and we have a closely forged relationship with other craftspeople in this region.

At Baxter & Lee the aim is to produce furniture that has a limited impact on the environment so, where possible, timber is sourced from sustainable resources. Using a wide range of timbers and finishes, we design pieces large and small, traditional and contemporary, the final result always being a finely crafted piece of furniture.

Due to the nature of our service, the consultation work involved with clients and the size of some of our pieces, our clients tend to be based in the North of England.  Smaller items of our work, however, are produced for clients nationwide.

The design process:-

  1. Initial Consultation and idea generation
  2. 1st Design Drawings are produced
  3. Design Development and final design drawings are produced
  4. Design agreed and confirmation of commission
  5. Sourcing and ordering of materials
  6. Manufacturing
  7. Delivery
  8. Installation where appropriate
